A month-long folk festival begins on the premises of the Bangladesh Folk and Craft Foundation in Sonargaon Upazila of Naryanganj. The program has been arranged to present the country's crafts and folk culture and to introduce the uniqueness of folk culture with the new generation
A large number of visitors thronged the fair on opening day. People visited different stalls selling decorative items, crafts, fabrics, and other items like shital pati from Sylhet region, shokher hari, and masks from Rajshahi, clay, and brass crafts from Dhaka, jamdani, and nakshikantha from Sonargaon.
Around 60 artisans from across the country are demonstrating various crafts making techniques at the event.
Besides, visitors can enjoy traditional performances like baul gaan, pala gaan, kobigaan, jatra pala, puppet show, bioscope, and others every day in the evening at the fair.
Folk artistes including Abdus Kuddus Boyati, Samir Baul, Aynal Haque Baul, and others entertained the visitors presenting traditional songs on the opening day of the fair.
Sonargaon Upazila can be reached via Road from any place of the country. Anyone can Hire a car and attend the festival. Bus service is also available.
