7th March Celebration

7th March is the historic day of the people of Bangladesh as on this day in 1971, the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered a speech at Race Course Maidan (present Suharwardy Udyan) in the capital city of Dhaka to call upon the people for the potential war of independence.

The speech is recognized as one of the most inspirational wartime speeches in the world for 2500 years as per the book, 'We Shall Fight on the Beaches: The Speeches That Inspired History' by Jacob F. Field.

The day is observed paying tribute to the Father of Nation as well as organizing different events and festivals throughout the country.

If you seek to know about the history of independence of Bangladesh, please walk down to the Independence Tower also known as Glass Tower, a memorial built at Suhrawardy Udyan to commemorate the speech of the Father of the Nation.
