Very few poets in the history of literature were sentenced to jail for their literary works which caused to raise the spirit of freedom in the people of their time, Kazi Nazrul Islam who is revered as the National Poet of Bangladesh is an eminent poet who fought for the freedom of the people of South Asia and embraced imprisonment for his poem.

Since then he is called the Bidrohi Kobi (rebel poet) of Bengali literature who was born on May 25, 1899, in the West Bengal of India and died 1976 in Bangladesh. To remember the poet, different events and festivals are organized throughout the country.
