Human mind is always ready for the laudation of vast greenery. Our soul craves places surrounded by trees and plants. “Bhawal National Park Forest” is one the best places where we can enjoy the existence of natural beauty along with the grandiose greenish environment. The location of this forest is at Gazipur in Dhaka. It was the forest of Madhupur and the official establishment of Bhawal Forest occurred here in 1982 under the Wildlife Act of 1974. The whole forest area is extended approximately 5,022 hectares and the internal park area is 940 hectares. One can roam around the whole area maintaining the instructions given by the authority. It is said that 64 types of species exist inside which includes reptiles, mammals, amphibian animals, peacocks, deers, pythons, catfish, and various types of birds. There is also a lake inside the forest area for the visitors' amusement. It is also possible to roam around the lake by using a boat and observe the beauty of red water lilies in late spring. 13 cottages and 6 rest houses are also seen here. Moreover, a park area is also seen along with a tortoise breeding center. Once this place was mainly covered with Shal plants, at present there are 345 types of plants which are bush, trailer, grass, herb, and many more trees. In addition, eucalyptus and rubber plants are grown by authorities. One can observe the scenic beauty of the whole place by seeing it from the watchtower. The landscape of the entire green will fill the mind with the serenity of existence. Horse carriage is also available for roaming around the whole place with it. How to go

One can go to GazipurSadar by bus from Dhaka. From there, the park is just 3 kilometers distant. Also one can head to Rajendrapur directly by bus. Bhawal Forest area is within walking distance from there.

Where to stay and eat

One can stay in the forest’s rest house after getting permission from a higher authority. Besides, plenty of hotels and restaurants are available in Gazipur. One can stay there according to their comfort. Pithas (a type of dessert)  of Gazipur is very renowned. One should taste this food while visiting Bhawal Forest.
