Ahsan Manzil: an aristocracy of the ancient era

Some places are bound to remind our current generation about the ancient era of the royal dwellers. Ahsan Manzil is one of these places holding the utmost significance of history along with its magnificent appearance. Ahsan Manzil is located in Kumartoli along the banks of the Buriganga River in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was the official residential place of the Nawab of Dhaka, more explicitly the dwelling place of people who were entitled to monarchical status. The whole place is filled with archaic narratives.  This land property was under the ownership of various types of people like Sheikh Enayet Ullah, the French community and finally, in 1830, this land was purchased by the established landlord of Dhaka, Khwaja Alimullah. After his death, his son had done plenty of renovation works and named it "Ahsan Manzil'' after his son Khwaja Ahsanullah. A new building named “Rang Mahal '' was also made and the previous one was named “OndorMohol”. Later, officially the whole structure went through major changes under their supervision. In 1985 the national museum acquired the property and made it a museum that includes historic photographs. The octagon dome of Ahsan Manjil is observed as its notability, which is 27.13 meters above the ground. Being light reddish, the whole infrastructure has many rooms in it. The ballroom, Jalsaghar, Darbar hall are the most elegant ones made with white, green, and yellow-colored ceramic tiles. The geometric designs, wooden stairs, semicircular arches, inner doors with multi-colored glasses, and marble floors all made the places endear to the visitors who love to explore.

One can go to Ahsan Manzil from anywhere in Dhaka city by using highway transportation. Having an explicit idea of the distance from the starting point is required to visit this place.
