BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FATHER OF THE NATION

The history of independence of Bangladesh is the history of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu, who was born to fight for freedom of the people. Under his valiant leadership, the then East Pakistan became sovereign and independent Bangladesh fighting a nine-month-long bloody war in 1971 at the cost of millions of lives. This great political leader was born in 17 March 1920 at Tungipara of Gopalganj district. As he was very much fond of children, his birth anniversary is observed as the National Children Day celebrated through different programs and events throughout the country. On this day, please don't miss to visit the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at 32 Dhanmondi in the capital city of Dhaka. Your visit to this historical residence of the Father of the nation which has been turned into a museum would cause to raise a sense of humility and respect in you as he along with his all family members except two of his daughters was assassinated in his residence on 15th August 1975.

 

How To Go

You can take a bus from Gopalganj to Tungipara bus stand, take a van / rickshaw / maxi and come to the Samadhi Soudha Complex of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
